Celebrate winter with this cute cardinal sitting on a branch! While these birds are around year round, their bright red plumage adds a welcome pop of colour to the winter landscape.

The Cardinal quilt block is a foundation paper pieced quilt block pattern that finishes at 8" x 8" or 12" x 12".

It is suitable for advanced beginners and intermediate quilters. Prior knowledge of FPP is assumed.

This block was originally designed for the Winter Wonderland sew-along in December 2025.

• Fabric requirements: this pattern is designed for scraps and as such does not contain fabric requirements or a cutting chart. A maximum of 1 FQ is needed for the background.
